It's almost Fall, Y'all!

If you are like most of us here at Kessler Alair Insurance you work hard to play hard. For many of us filling our weekends with fun family activities is first priority when we clock out on Friday evening. The first day of Fall officially arrives in September which makes us SO excited.  We love Fall - it's not too hot, it's not too's perfect for being outside!  Having our offices located in Newport Beach, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland California gives us a wide variety of events to choose from. Of course one of the best things about Southern California is the fact that you can go snowboarding in the morning and sit on the beach to watch the sunset all in the same day. 

Whether you are in the Inland Empire or in Orange County and you are looking for a great thing to do this month here are a few ideas: 

What to do in the Upland and Rancho Cucamonga Area:

September 13 – On the Dance Floor: Bollywood and Bhangra – From 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, located at Ontario Museum of History and Art, 225 South Euclid Ave, Ontario. FREE Admission. Explore Bollywood and Bhangra dance from India with a dance class led by Rajat Rocky Batta Dance Company. All levels of dance experience are welcome! Space is limited. Admission is Free. September 15 – 2018 Ontario Festival of the Arts – 11:00 am – 6:00 pm – Located at 217 S Lemon Ave in Ontario. Mark your calendar for September 15, 2018 from 11 AM to 6 PM when the City of Ontario partners with Chaffey Community Museum of Art (CCMA) to put on the inaugural Ontario Festival of the Arts in the Arts District (the area between and around the Ontario Museum of History & Art and CCMA). The Ontario Festival of the Arts will celebrate visual and performing arts with artist booths, art demonstrations and instruction, maker machines, display of historical artifacts and ephemera, mini walking tour of Arts District historic buildings, and live musical performances. You will not want to miss this event! Local and regional artists, art making demonstrations and hands on instruction, historical artifacts and ephemera, mini walking tour of historical buildings, dance and musical performances, food trucks and vendors are all a part of this festival! September 6, 13, 20 & 27 – Handel's Ice Cream $1.35 Thursday – Everyone is invited! Cost is $1.35 per ice cream cone. September – Every Friday Night – Claremont Friday Nights Live! - From 6:00 – 9:00 pm. FREE!! Come stroll, eat, shop, and browse while enjoying terrific FREE live music throughout the Claremont Village. September 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 - Claremont Artisans and Farmers Market – Every Sunday, rain or shine. 8:00 am – 1:00 pm – FREE – located on Indian Hill Ave. and 2nd Street in Claremont Village. Voted best farmer’s market in the Inland Empire (Los Angeles Times, 2012), the Farmers & Artisans Market was founded in 1996 to connect California farmers and artisans to the local community, and features over 100 grower and artisan members sharing their goods and services throughout the year. Every Monday in September - Mother Goose on the Loose. Mondays at 12:00 pm at the Biane Library in Rancho Cucamonga. This is a fun, fast-paced story time geared for children ages 0-3 years and is filled with rhymes, songs, lap-bouncers, movement, and of course classic Mother Goose rhymes. Walk-ins welcome. Limited seating - all walk in story times require buttons for each family member attending story time and will be available at the Children's Information Desk 30 minutes before the program. Fontana Community Senior Center – Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. Located at 16710 Ceres Ave., Fontana, CA. The Fontana Community Senior Center is designed to cater to community members that are 55 years of age and older. Inside this beautiful two-story, 43,000+ square-foot center, there are many rooms that meet and exceed the needs of Fontana's seniors. There are rooms for learning where the senior community can participate in classes and activities, and rooms for leisure such as: Arts and crafts room, Art gallery, Banquet and conference rooms, Billiards room and card parlor, Computer lab and digital theater, Library and sitting areas. What to do in the Newport Beach area: 

September 7 – Merlin’s Magic Dinner Late Show – 7:30 – 9:30 pm, located at Rib Trader Restaurant, 2710 East Chapman Ave, Orange, Ca. Enjoy a mouth-watering meal by the costumed characters from the show, while Merlin the Magician does everything from sleight of hand magic to grand illusion. Suitable for ages 4+. September 8 – Master Gardner Information Day – 10:00 am – 11:30 am, located at South Coast Research and Extension Center, 7601 Irvine Blvd., Irvine, Ca. Would you like to become a UCCE Master Gardener? University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who extend UC horticulture education to their communities. If you are interested in becoming a UCCE Master Gardener, this informational session will answer all your questions. Attendance at one of these sessions is required to apply for the program. September 8 – 10th Annual CERT Disaster Preparedness Expo – 11:00 – 2:00 pm, Located at Civic Center Lawn, 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach. The Newport Beach Fire Department and Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Disaster Preparedness and Green on Green ECO expo on Saturday, September 8 from 11 am-2 pm at the Newport Beach Civic Center green. This will be the 10th annual Disaster Preparedness Expo, held annual in conjunction with National Preparedness Month each year. The expos are free of charge with free parking. The expos will include free electronics recycling and document shredding, exhibit booths and educational displays, learn about the City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, learn how to build a disaster supply kit, learn hands-only CPR, Newport Beach Police Department Neighborhood Watch. Following the Expo, the Newport Beach Public Library will have a presentation from Dr. Lucy Jones at 2:00 pm in the Central Library Friends room (right down from the expo). Dr. Jones will be discussing her new book The Big Ones. This event is generously funded by the Friends of the Library. Admission is free. September 15 – Irvine – Fall Veggies for Small Spaces – 10:00 – 11:00 am. Located at Farm and Food Lab Orange County Great Park. With cooler weather coming, it will soon be time to plant fall veggie gardens. Lettuce, spinach, kale. carrots, snap peas, and onions are some of the easy and delicious choices to grow and eat throught the fall, winter and spring. September 16 – Balboa Island Carnival and Taste of the Island – 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Located at Balboa Island on Marine Avenue in Balboa Island. Join your friends and neighbors for an afternoon of fun, food and music! Family Fun, Carnival Games, Bungee Jump, Great Food, Pie-Eating Contest, DJ Music, and a Fashion Walk. September 22 – Ancient Volcanoes Hike – From 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Suitable for ages 8+. Located at Crystal Cove State Park, 8471 North Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, Ca. Join a park volunteer on an Ancient Volcanoes Hike in the backcountry of Crystal Cove State Park & explore several of the parks volcanic features on Saturday from 10am-12. Learn about the land/seascape setting 10-11 million years ago and then head out to observe some volcanic sites in the park. September 7 – October 31 – Halloween Time at Disneyland – Located at Disneyland, 1313 South Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA. Suitable for ages 1+. The happiest place on earth just got spookier! Break out your broomsticks! Newport Theatre – Located at 2905 East Coast Highway, Corona del Mar, CA.
